Christmas party planning? Read our top tips

As those in the industry know, it’s about this time of year that bookings start flying in for the annual Christmas party. If you’re in charge of planning your work’s Christmas do, here’s a few top tips…

This Christmas time, there’s no need to be afraid!

Top tips for Christmas Party Planning

Book early

If you’re after a do on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday or even Sunday then it’s best to get your venue and your entertainment booked in now — for this year and next! However, if you don’t manage to snap up one of those days, don’t panic. Everyone is in the mood to be jolly over the Festive period and so there’s no shame in a Tuesday or Wednesday party.

Choose your theme

Whether it’s an out and out Christmas affair or an ironic totally tropical summertime bash, a theme helps to tie an event together. Themes are also great at breaking the ice when colleagues come together who wouldn’t usually be mingling. Try and match your theme to your entertainment, venue, drinks and even your food. We’ve seen a variety of themes including 1920s, fire and ice, disco and more work wonders at bringing people together.

Refreshments

Talking of food and drink, make sure you over order everything. There’s nothing worse than a festive fight over mince pie scraps! Drinks wise is really budget-dependent but if you can, try and throw a little bit of Christmas spirit into the mix (see what we did there?)

Invites

As soon as you can, get the invites out to colleagues. People’s diaries fill up very quickly around the festive period. If you are going with a theme, make sure the design of your invite fits in with the theme, to get people talking. Just make sure your invite continues all the key details including timings, food, drink and of course – dress code!

Transportation

A simple but effective way of taking the ‘ooh, I might have to drive’ excuse out of the equation! Why not arrange transport to and from the event, collecting and dropping of at your workplace? It’s a real selling point for those colleagues who might be unsure about attending.
