Inspiring Wedding Trends For 2017 – And Beyond

Love is a burnin’ thing, as a famous musician once said. And the fire to a wedding plan never diminishes. The build-up is a hot, raging stew of wishes and concepts. Year to year, wedding trends are changing, as couples explore the newest looks and experiences for their ceremony.

2017 is no different. We’re coming up to wedding season, and your ideas may be swinging around like a compass needle, desperate to land somewhere. To put you in the right frame of mind, here are some of the best, most original wedding trends that are setting venues alight around the country.

Wedding Trends: Bringing the outside in

Bouquets aren’t going anywhere. We can’t hail flowers as the newest of wedding trends; but this year is taking the floral, natural aesthetic to a grander level.

We’re seeing a lot of weddings with a green or yellow theme, aided by wooden furniture, potted ferns and strings of bulbs hoisted above your outdoor dining arrangement. The back-to-nature effect has a light, spacious atmosphere, the kind that makes anyone feel at ease. A pastel-shaded gown (also on-trend, we might add) will look awesome in a backdrop of petals, plants and trees. Further the style by setting an array of fruit punch bowls at each table, and set the table with the latest wedding trends.

Wedding Trends: Imaginative catering

Silver service is all well and good, but it can get a little samey. Wedding planners in 2017 are taking food and drink, and doing some astounding things with it. So far, we’ve come across a ‘doughnut wall’, which is exactly what it sounds like, as well as an ornate trolley for whiskeys and rum. Put your own spin on the catering experience, and see where it takes you. A cheese fiend, for example, may want to have a cake built from brie, served onto platters of savoury biscuit with wine from a fountain!

Wedding Trends: Image mapping projections

We’re almost tempted to wear our tinfoil hats, because this trend is so sci-fi, we’re desperate to see how you might pull it off. Basically, image mapping projects something onto your walls and ceiling: it could be a palace, a wavering sky full of stars, or an ocean bubbling across the stage to the rear doors. On a large scale, it’s expensive, but many couples are using it for their cakes, dimming the lights and letting a pattern twinkle over the icing. There isn’t a more wondrous centrepiece to usher the bride in, or to prepare for the first dance, than an image mapper.

Crazy, unique wedding entertainment

We’re used to cover bands belting out Madonna and The Kaiser Chiefs. The problem is, many standard wedding acts aren’t that memorable, simply because they fail to put a fresh spin on those classic hits. That’s why unique wedding entertainment is more popular than ever. The competitive stakes have been raised, and wedding singers, bands, magicians and comedians are vying for the top spot on your bill. Acts like those in the Silk Street roster – which we’ve cultivated carefully for you – have the quirky, dazzling ‘wow’ factor you’ve been searching for.

See who we have in our family. Whatever guise your wedding is taking, we can suggest a great booking for the day, and push you ahead of the trend-setting pack…
